Something or Other
So I'm home today with Mathilda and the twenty-four hour vom-a-thon. Started around four AM. She's miserable and I'm exhausted. But Jamee has to go to work and teach tonight, so she'll probably be even worse off.
Recently Tilda's been watching a lot of movie trailers. She's obsessed with the one for Pixar's Up, and has been watching it as part of her nightly bedtime ritual. If you can tell how the boyscout got on the porch, please let me know.
She's also been wanting to watch "Joker Movie," which translates to the two trailers for The Dark Knight. There's no way I'm letting her watch teh full movie, but she seems really taken with The Joker, most likely due to Halloween. But last night, unprompted, she said "Why so serious" while we were having dinner and it was the creepiest thing in the world. So we're probably going to have to cut back on that one.
But today, one of the few things that makes her happy is the trailer for Coraline, which just got posted yesterday. It's a little more colorful that I was expecting, and there's a few too many things coming towards the camera because it's in 3-D effects, but I'm still going to take her to see it come February 6.
There's two posters out for it too. This one:
And a UK version that came out this week:
For once, I actually prefer the US version. I asked Tilda which one she liked better and she said that she liked "the scary one," though I think we have differing opinions on which one that would apply too.
Too bad I already got her the Other one.

Coraline looks good. For perhaps the very first time ever, Matt and I have both read the book and are both anxious for the movie. Matt's particularly excited by the involvement of They Might Be Giants.
I showed Tilda the book last night. She was really taken with the glow-in-the dark stuff on the cover.
I'm curious to see how it translates to a movie. It looks like they've expanded it a bit - from what I can tell there's a new little boy character who may be a neighbor. And I wonder if they're going to keep the thing that the Other Father becomes in the cellar. I think that may be the thing that I'm most worried about freaking the kid out.
Poster didn't show up today. I was going to put it up in Tilda's room since she's not feeling well.
I don't have a glow in the dark cover on my book. :(
Did you know that Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab does a series of perfumes based on Neil Gaiman's books? Proceeds go to the Comic Book Defense League. They don't have a Coraline series but they have Stardust, Anansi Boys, American Gods and the latest The Graveyard Book. The perfumes are really nice and would be a lovely Christmas gift for the wifeey.
It may only be the first printing that has the glow in the dark stuff on it. I didn't even realize it was glow-in-the dark until just recently.
Unfortunately, the wifey does not care for perfumes and suchlike. She also didn't care for Stardust or American Gods. So, while a good suggestion, it won't really work.
The poster came in yesterday. It's nice.
